I have seen some crazy things while conducting a barracks inspection or during a "GI Party". What are some the the most outrageous things you've seen?

When I lived in the barracks as a private, it was my room that was worthy of posting here. I took pride in my weirdness, and showcased it. I was very good with an airbrush, and had several cartoon characters airbrushed on the wall, Tom and Jerry, Garfield and John, and more. Additionally I had airbrushed the Grateful Dead dancing bears across the top of the window with roses and vines. Add on top of that a Winnie the Pooh bed set, and the black light bulbs I used to replace the regular fluorescent bulbs, and my room looked like a bad acid trip. The BN CSM came in for a barracks inspection, and all he said was "Damn!" and walked out lol. after that they started using my artistic talents, painting murals for the unit and the like.
And yes this was a long time ago, and no I wasn't on drugs, I was just odd.

Sounds like you should have been on fast attacks (subs), you would have been a perfect fit!

Gotta wonder how that "Damn!" sounded. Like, "Damn, I'm getting too old for this!"? Or, "Damn! I know how to use these artistic talents to show off the BN!"?

It was never found in a room inspection. However, at my first duty station, my roommate rebuilt a V-8 engine and kept it in the spare wall locker.

SFC Sfc Darwin Maring, USA Ret - Having served in the Army as a bandsperson for 23 years, I definitely can appreciate that. Hopefully the piano wasn't like a 9 foot long one since it's loudness would have rattled the entire building

I had a spare engine for my car. It was all disassembled, cleaned, & everything was lines up in military fashion. My CO was impressed except for the smell from the solution I used to clean all of the parts.
