The Army has laid out of the eligibility requirements for the award of the new Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal to soldiers who have served in Iraq and Syria since June 15, 2014.
Inherent Resolve is the U. S. and allied campaign that targets military operations against the Islamic State terrorist organization.

they are looking to change the regs on this. IF you have directly supported combat operations during OIR (SPMAGTF, MEU, etc.) they are looking to extend this award to those individuals. It has not bee approved yet, just beginning the talks. reason being is that the Navy is sitting out in the Gulf floating around and they are rating this award, yet there are Marines that are supporting direct combat operations every day that do not rate it as they are "outside the zone set forth by the award".

So quick question. So if i was there for the 30+ days earlier this year and was awarded the GWOTE and I go back for another 30+ day tour in the future would i be authorized both seeings how it would be for a different period of service? Obviously i know both are not authorized for the same period of service.

If you served in the physical areas of Iraq or Syria, then you are authorized this medal. For your first tour you were awarded the GWOT-E, if you go back again you can get the new medal. You could probably swap the GWOT-E medal for your first tour with this one but they are giving the bronze star device for different operations on the GWOT-E now.
