What You Think Or May Not Know About Agent Orange Peripheral Neuropathy
When I found out my tingling and muscle spasms were probably Agent Orange related, I went to VA Administration building to talk with a Veteran advocate to find out if I was covered for any disabilities I may end up with as it progresses. The advocate showed me the link I used here and told me there are no cure or treatments for AO Neuropathy. After I read the VA “ Presumptions “ for AO, I didn’t get upset. It’s what I expected to to see. But, there has to be a way to change their “Presumption” ruling for those of us who served in areas where it was used, and for future generations who may come in contact with it, or something similar, like the illnesses from the “Pit Burnings” in Iraq and Afghanistan. Personally, I’m going to continue to find a way to change this ignorant logic the VA came up with. Remember, it took about 15 or 20 years before the government would even consider AO may be connected to certain types of cancer, birth defects, and diabetes. As I found out, even those considerations are limited responsibility by the VA.

We have met the enemy and they are US. Sadly what you say illustrates serving one's country and having to prove you merit medical treatment for injuries received in the course of that service.

Capt Tom Brown, Sir it’s always been a firefight with the VA and the government. Promises made, but never fulfilled. Lies told, but never proven. When I got a tattoo during basic training, I was told to not get caught or I would be charged with damaging government property. I laughed then. I’m not laughing now. I was damaged with government property, while I was government property, but I’m no longer government property. I’m a thorn in the side of the government I defended. New government instructions: Eat shit, and die...

SGT. Along with my MANY complaints.. Muscle spasms and the tingling in my legs and upper left back, continue to be ignored by the VA.. as well as the Cancers, aneurysms, heart attacks, and breathing issues I have.. they obviously do NOT care.. We served our Country.. They stayed home with mommy, enjoying holidays, friends, and family ... After all SGT., Congress and the VA has informed us All of these issues are a direct result from drinking TAB soda....

They are still ignoring the skin cancer issue with AO as well. My husband was diagnosed with squamous skin cancer and has had multiple surgeries, topical chemo, etc. from the VA. The biopsies allegedly come back as non-AO. The official VA position is that the skin cancer is not a result of AO but of sun exposure. Interestingly, a Harvard grad research of POC veterans who served in Nam showed a 70-80% increase in skin cancer rates as compared to the same POC stateside population during the same period of time. VA says they need more than antecdotal evidence, but they aren't about to do any research on their own. SIGH!
