Great news for some rates, bad news for others! Go to http://www.npc.navy.mil and take a look and see where you stand.
Any feedback? What do you guys think of the new advancement system??

CPO (Join to see) WOW, quotas sure do look tight for all of the Rates. Of course with the cutbacks, this is only to be expected. Every First Class Petty Officer needs to make sure he/she is doing all you can today to get the best look at your record at the Board. That means making sure YOU order a copy of your record in advance and seeing what the Bard will see. Each cycle has weight in different categories, but all cycles look at much of the same things: Evaluations, are you doing what you need to do to be recognized; Warfare, are you at least qualified where you are stationed; Community Service (Yes, it is hard to do extra at sea, so what!). Look at the current guidelines and make sure you have done all you can.
Look at your service record and make sure that it does not contain errors or - believe it or not - other peoples pages. If you find errors, get them corrected ASAP.
Good Luck "Pitbull" and take that BULL by the horns.

Will do Master Chief. I have spent the last three months fine combing through my record. I got most errors corrected and cent a few things in for consideration to the board. I do all I can to hit every wicket and focus a lot of my energy on my junior sailors getting them things they need and providing sound guidance and leadership. I feel I have a good shot, however, so does everyone. I hope the board sees potential in me as a chief.

Petty Officer Heath, it sounds as if you are doing all you can. Keep looking, and do what you can. One of the things I found is that we usually get pushed up from below, so continue to care for your Sailors and good things will usually happen.
One thing you need to know, if you sent in corrections, the Board will also make sure that the Board for Corrections of Naval Records, gets a copy of those corrections. Well Done.
