Why not check up? Why not improve or replace what's been the norm if it means to have a better army or military as a whole?
Checking up is frowned up but why not? Multiple thoughts come to mind when I think about the interactions between joes and NCOs.
Respect your chain-of-command...Why not respect everyone mutually?
Never check up...Should leadership remain unchecked if your NCO's leadership doesn't notice it?
Those are just two examples of countless I'm sure can be mentioned. Is the Army (or military as a whole) so stuck on many norms/traditions that we do not consider improvement among ourselves within the service? This is not to throw shade to those before me or or currently above me in rank. Overall how do send the message of improving our respect for each other regardless of rank or position?

I count on my Soldiers to keep me straight. I got a bit of a wake up call from one of my SPCs two months ago. I has to pull it out a bit, but my attitude was having a negative impact on his. Ended up being a very productive conversation and may result in a process improvement for something bothering both of us.
