The New Army Song
Anyone know that there is a new Army Song. Actually the beginning is an additional to the Army Song we all know. What do you think about this change ?

Funny story; went to a SOM board, and I was asked to sing the Army song. So of course I had been practicing it and without a hitch sang the entire song. The entire board was speechless, and the POB proceeded to get up, leave the room and tell everyone else in the waiting area to sing the short-version of the song. Needless to say I got a coin for it and will not practice the entire song for the next one.

The first time I heard the song in it's entirety, I was taking a Soldier to a promotion board. The guy ahead of us sang the WHOLE thing at the top of his lungs! I had never heard it before, so I thought he was flustered and making stuff up =o)

It's not new. It's always been part of the song (in fact, it's the first verse) just never sung. There's actually more to it than just the addition of the first verse. There are two more at the end.<br>

That's good to know, our Sergeant Major said we had to sing the new part for our ceremony. Everyone from LTC's to PFC's had no clue about the verse.

Yeah, I know. Many people had no clue how to sing it let alone the words. Like SPC Gamble said, it started coming out in 2012 although it wasn't official until I think April 2013.

That first verse was sung at my AIT graduation March 2012. I had no clue that the other verses were phased out. Our Drill Sergeants gave us sheets with the entire song and told us to memorize the 2nd verse only this was in November 2011.

Yeah Battle they started implementing it back into the Army song in 2012. Why do I know this? Because I lost my soldier of the cycle board to it because I had no clue about the first verse.... It throws off the whole rhythm of the part we all know which is probably a big reason they have had it phased out for so many years...
