I carried 7 canteens. That had to last me for 7 days in the jungle. Add to that 21 C rat meals and the list goes on and on.

SGT Ed Matyjasik - I carried eight canteens on long operations. When possible, about once a week we would have hot food choppered to us which included cannisters of water. The rest of the time, obtaining halfway decent water was an issue.

I spent 11 months in the jungle, onyl 2 hot meals brought out to us, Thanksgiving and Christmas day. We always just got our water from the streams. We were resuplied every 7 days, C rats, ammo and mail.
