Texas 2020 February proved wind and solar is not good enough for total dependence as a power source. All 254 counties were under winter storm conditions. This administration refused to allow natural gas generation plants to keep the power on.

True, they may produce electricity under the right conditions but produce nothing when the wind isn't present or it is overcast with clouds. Maybe works ok as a back up given ideal conditions but had very limited ability to the point of stopping completely when conditions NOT under our control, provided by nature don't cooperate. Natural gas, oil and coal power electric plants and are not depe4ndant on weather conditions to operate. I can see that even in a neighbors solar lights and power when on cloudy days it doesn't work at all or only provides reduced power but it's a supplement in their household not a replacement. Maybe there is something in the future that will be better, I don't know but it's NOT ready yet as a sole effective source of electric power production.

Solar is pretty reliable and coming down in price but I am not a fan of wind farms.

Solar may be reliable provided its not cloudy, overcast, snowing or raining. Wind farms are even less reliable and have to use a good 45 gallons of oil on each tower to lubricate it and also have killed thousands of birds. Also on wind towers, the components are of products that aren't even able to be recycled and just become hazardous waste. The overall useful life of a wind turbine is limited,

I Have a friend who is an electrical engineer. He was in charge of integrating the solar farms at Fort Gordon and Fort Benning into the power grid. My engineer friend states that solar energy is unreliable with varied out put and the solar farms only function because there is a big nuclear power plant in Georgia to smooth over the variability in production. In Germany a wind mill farm is being bull dozed to mine coal so moth balled coal fired plants can be restarted to over come the loss of the Nord Stream pipe line. The other thing is the production of solar panels require rare earth minerals some of which are toxic. Mining rare earth minerals are very energy dependent and exploit third world counties.
