July 1st, 2015 - 4th Squadron, 7th Cavalry was deactivated with 2ID, at Camp Hovey, Korea. Sadly it is still in deactivation mode. From July 1 1965 to Jan 21 1988, 4-7 was active in the Western Corridor of Korea with many missions on the DMZ. In 1988 after being deactivated in Korea, 3-12 Cav, 3AD was flagged to 4-7 Cav. 4-7 went on to serve in the 1st Gulf War (Desert Storm). About 92/93 4-7 was deactivated in Germany.

In 1996, 5-17 Cav who 4-7 was flagged to 88, returned to Korea. 5-17 then was flagged back to 4-7 Cav till 2015.

Thankx for the pictures. Man when I was there the guard shack was twice the size of a phone booth, with just as many amenities! LOL.
