It was an honor to have served with the men of F Company 51st INF.LRS.ABN.
I retired in 1995 ,just wondering if F Company 51st INF.LRS.ABN. is still around,I hope it still is.

F company was deactivated couple of years ago. Big army shut down all long range surveillance units as of about four months ago. Once again the army doesn't learn from its mistakes I hope that they re-activate a long range surveillance unit before all of the people who have knowledge and experience in the job have either gotten out of the army or have retired

There are several of us who live within driving distance of each other and Central North and South Carolina. We try to get together a couple times a year normally it's right around memorial day at right around Labor Day. We have a strong group that responds to deaths, illness and needs. Mostly made up of YOUR boys. There are a couple from 2nd and 3rd platoon, but mainly 1st platoon, live so close. Last get together here on Labor Day was half of team 1-4, two from 1-2, and one from 2d platoon

Damm shame ,that the unit was deactivated, did it see action in Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom, did anyone else stay in the Army and do 20 or more years ,from 1st platoon, the reason I ask is because I think I saw pictures of Bayless,Dean, and Grimmt(think I spelled it right) some time back, when I was searching for members of F Co. 51st INF.LRS.ABN. but don't really know if it was them.
