5 Things The US Military Should Ban Forever

We know the US military protects our nation as well as many others. They serve as a global superpower, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of those around the world. Despite it all, there are some things the US military still needs to work on...
1) The Navy’s blue camouflage uniform

So how did the Navy end up with blue camouflage? Well, members of the Navy were happy with straight blue working uniforms when the Marines and the Army decided to change to digital patterns. Not wanting to feel left out, the admirals got together, ‘analyzed their budget,’ and the decision became very clear! They would join the other forces and get themselves some digitally patterned camo...you know, to blend in with the slate grey floating superstructures they’re most commonly stationed on. Who wouldn’t want new uniforms instead of cool laser beams that would destroy enemies, or fighter jets that can travel over 2600 miles? Definitely not the Navy!
2) Wearing reflective belts everywhere

Everyone loves their PT belts. Yes, we know they reflect the light from a cars’ headlights to keep us safe while we run outside at night, but do they really need to be worn all the time? How do they keep us safe during PT?
3) Those brown dive shorts that only Navy SEALs wear

The UDT SEAL swim shorts are khaki, have a belt attached, and most importantly they are short enough to reveal how terribly untanned one’s legs are. Seriously - nobody likes getting an eyeful of ‘killer’ thigh. According to NavySEALs.com, the shorts were issued to the original frogmen of World War II and, in keeping with tradition, they are still issued. Honoring traditions may be important, but one has to wonder if this is a cruel joke the DoD is playing on the most iconic fighting force in the military...
4) Marine Corps “silkies” physical training shorts

It looks like the military officially has a problem with short shorts, and the Marines are the worst offenders with their famous “silkies.” Updated PT uniforms or not, these short shorts can make even the military’s bravest look like they are paying tribute to Richard Simmons.
5) PowerPoint

General Mattis had the right idea when he banned the use of Powerpoint briefings during his tenure as the commander of CENTCOM. They are boring, a waste of time, and, as he said, they “make you stupid”. Luckily, Secretary of Defense, Ash Carter agrees with this.
