I'm trying to enroll my wife and child into deers but she works almost everyday. I'm able to go to the deers office anytime (ARNG Tech) can I take all the required documents without her present?

DEERS enrollment and ID card issuance is usually a 'one stop session'. There are provisions for a dependent to be added to DEERS and an ID card to be issued by mail.

I would suggest you check out to see if there is a close-by RAPIDS site* that you can make an appointment at so your wife can arrange time. If you go the mail-in route, it will require you to get forms notarized and such, so it sounds like it would be defeating the intent (take time off from work to get it done).

Check out the RAPIDS site. If you are intent on going the 'mail in' route, contact the RAPIDS site to ensure they do it (some may not). You'll need to download the DD Form 1172-2, fill it out, bring the required identification to a notary and have them certify the rest of the information and affix the stamp (you'll also have to provide a photograph that's been notarized as well)

Any reason why they can't do a reach out at VA's. I know I'm not the only female Vet that won't go on post due to MST.

SGT (Join to see) - If there is a RAPIDS site at the VA, then you can get it done there. Check the locator.

SGT (Join to see) - I don't know if you will find a VA location that also serves as a RAPIDS site but I am sure you will be able to find a a reserve or National Guard location that does. That may not be exactly what you are looking for but it will be a different environment in comparison to a large base.

SSgt Christophe Murphy - Good point. You'd have to call ahead and see if they are "CAC Only" though and you might have to know someone or schmooze someone at the unit.

Yep, sure can. My wife has never had a military I.D. We live in Demark, no place near for her to get one, yet I got her in DEERS, no problem.

You can get your wife entered into DEERs without her being present but from my experience they require both of you present when her ID card will be issued.
