Ft Hood have "show" baracks that nobody lives in. They are very nice to include the furnishings. Ft Hood shows VIPs and high ranking foreign officers the "show" baracks.

They should've seen the ones I lived in during BCT at Fort Gordon in 1966 (left over from WWII)

I stayed in the same barracks as we prepared to deploy to Saudi Arabia for desert shield/desert storm.

When my ADA battalion was transferred from Florida to Ft Bragg in 1979, they “un-Condemned” about 7 blocks of WW II two story barracks to move us into. They were still there when I got orders for Germany in 1981.
