Great video - it accurately communicated the chaos and confusion of an intense battle in a way that words could not convey. It was also one of the few war films to show enemy troops in action. Col David Shoup (CO, 2nd Mar Regt and commander of all landed troops) was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during the attack on Beito. He was later promoted to four-star rank and became Commandant of the Marine Corps.

that video won an academy ward for best short subject in 1942. Since their was a shortage of metal. The Oscar was molded of clay. after the war an Oscar made of metal replaced the clay Oscar. Semper Fi.
