With new Army policy, officers take standardized GRE test during Captains Career Course

GRE at CCC may be good idea. We have had some officers who got commissioned from weak or for-profit colleges or universities. Some of them have struggled with or cheated at higher level military education such as CGSOC or War College. Some of those officers have also chosen to seek weak or for-profit graduate degrees for career continuation which projects a dubious image.

By having them take GRE, it provides Army a chance to see who is smart enough to truly continue at field-grade rank. In addition, it can encourage smart officers to pursue degrees from more prestigious schools instead of settling on mediocre schools who waive GRE.

Bad idea. First the Army is going to pay for these folks to take a test they have not prepared them for and second rate them off those results. Personally I believe the Army already has to many things for young officers to worry about outside of the job the Army hired them to do and prepping for this is another one. Looking at GRE scores and APFT is like me writing out my credentials, RN, MSHS, CEN, CCRN, EMT-P, ATCN; you can say I am a good test taker but can I do the job? I fear with DHA and MAP, we will lose more talent with this.
