With all three Gunsmoke-J satellites on orbit, the Army is ready to test space-based targeting

With all the push for Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2), I just don't understand why the Army is spending money way outside its lane. There is now a US Space Force (USSF) as a separate service, with responsibilities assigned to Organize, Train, and Equip space forces for the JFC. If we're sticking with the Goldwater-Nichols construct for the DoD, each service has provided a domain component to the JFC. The Air Force provides the JFACC whenever the Air Force has the preponderance of airpower and the means to Command and Control them (nearly every time). The Army provides the Land component...the JFLCC. Navy the JFMCC. and the USSF the JFSCC. Army brothers help me out here...is this just a program that's been funded for quite a while now (well before the USSF was established) and the Army just wants to see it through...or does big Army think it also has Space roles and missions assigned to it?
