Growing up in northern California, as a teen I would see logging trucks come down out of the mountains, often with just one or two trees on the load. That is how big those trees were. Last summer I was up there and the trucks now carry 10 or more trees in a load, most about 10-20 inches thick.

Calif forest policy is also the cause of many forest fires. I have a friend in extreme N Cal and I drove though the fire area before the fire and couple years later after the fire. What a waist of timber.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel I'm not a Biden fan but I am glad he is for saving the old growth trees. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park was all but destroyed by logging in the late 1800's until the park was established in 1934. Only the most remote regions were spared the saw.

It was almost totally destroyed by a fire a few years back. I believe in conservation but it has to go hand in hand with use of the forest products. I feel for the people who were also driven off their land to make room for the park. r
