But there is hope...
We can actually blame President Bush in 2001 because he approved come current funding of the plane while it was still being developed. I was looking at a paper that I had last night in one of my military studies. I'll have to find it later and describe it in detail but at least the Air Force is going for the F-35 Echo x-ray model so they can actually dog fight.

Correction, F15 Echo x-ray model. The most advanced F15. Other countries had ordered models similar to it and finally the US Air Force got with the program.
