Lying (even the little white lies) is what people do, LTC (Join to see). Read any psychological study and you'll find that everyone lies all the time! Lying about military service is simply another aspect of what people already do, although the reasons for the lies may have a different basis.

Thanks for sharing LTC (Join to see) - imagined valor and stolen valor seem to be endemic in some places.

I had a couple guys ask was I at Qina in '83 (Egypt), I'd say even if I was I can't tell them, they don't have the need to know.. and I move on.. Only certain people know where I'd been in '83....

The United States Air Force conducted classified operations from Wadi Qena airfield from the 1970s to the 1990s, under the code names Coronet Scabbard, Coronel Aspen, Coronet Drake, and Coronet Mallard.[5] The 4401st Combat Support Squadron (Provisional) maintained a near-constant CENTAF presence there. Part of these operations probably included Lockheed MC-130 flights during the Desert One rescue attempts for the U.S. hostages in Tehran in the late 1970s.[6]
