Chiang Kai Shek was an anti-Communist…but he was also authoritarian. He jailed some critics of his government. The economy still has some nationalization similar to US phone system during 20th century.

My mother mentioned him when I was young. Her and her family fled China in 1949. They went to Hong Kong then they settled Thailand. My grandfather was also in the national Army as well. I read, “Last Boat out of Shanghai” by Hellen Zia. In this book Zia talks about what the communists did to people during their rise to power.
