It all reminds me of the Taliban - is this really what we have become as a country?

Capt Dwayne Conyers - Your statement is not quite accurate - Pennsylvania: Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with Dedication Speech on the Bicentennial Bell Memorial Wall, Philadelphia. The Bicentennial Bell was a gift from the people of Britain presented by Her Majesty the Queen to the people of the United States to celebrate the 1976 United States Bicentennial.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - Actually it started before that in a court of civil law, and the case had not yet been finished. Secondly WHO lost which election and then resorted to killing? But then again you do not understand what is going on and spout whatever garbage comes to mind.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr, the white supremacists had had a permit for three or four months to do their march. It was the alt-left that decided to disrupt the march and tried to block them at the entrance to the park. Both sides came armed and ready for a fight, which they got - while the police stood by and watched rather than keeping the two groups separate.

Then, when the rioters started throwing tear gas at one another the police left. When the white supremacist drove his car into the crowd there were not even any police cars in the area to give chase as he drove away.

If facts mean anything.

If I thought removing the statues would make a difference perhaps I could be persuaded to agree. There is zero reason to believe removing these statues will amount to a hill of beans. Most, if not all of the statues are in southern states so what is the countervailing argument for all that is wrong in areas of the country where there are no statues and never have been?

Most people pass by them with little knowledge or awareness of what they are. Many/most of these statues were erected by civic groups, veterans organizations, small towns and the like to commemorate those that fought and died in the bloodiest war our country has ever seen. They have been standing for 100+ years and only now are they found to be the cause of all that ails us.

Removing a statue or all of them will not change the climate in this country a bit. We have done far more consequential things from the War that ended slavery, all the way through the civil rights era to the first black president (1/2 black anyway) of the United States. And here we still stand and this time the issue is statues that have been standing in parks and city/town squares for 100+ years. If you honestly think taking them down will make a difference then you have fallen for the mantra of the fascists who think erasing things they do not like is acceptable and honorable.

If electing a black President didn't help (in fact made it worse) why would scraping a few statues help?

We can wear the racists down and we will cease honoring treason, either is a good enough reason.

GySgt John Olson - they wanted to bring the nation together and letting the scum go was useful , Just like we lett open NAZI killers go when it was convention with Unit 714 and Operation paperclip. Not to mention that the President in charge was racist and pro slavery himself.

GySgt John Olson - Hi. Sorry to see that you've allowed yourself to get sucked into 1stSgt Nelson Kerr 's world. Do you feel like Alice when she stepped through the looking glass? I know. Been there, done that. Just make sure he's taken his meds before you go down that rat hole or you'll soon need meds yourself.
