Thanks for sharing SGT (Join to see). Portraits of each President have been possible through sketches and paintings.
My favorite President is Abraham Lincoln who was not especially attractive externally but his heart was committed to the USA.
In the mid-19th century Daugertypes were available and later that century black and white photographs became available. In the 1930s I believe color photographs became possible but it wasn't until later in the 20th century that color photographs became a significant art form.
Each President was a product of his time in many respects. Pock-marked faces were common in the 19th century. Many presidents were soldiers before they were Presidents in the 19th century. Several had war wounds and many were somewhat disfigured from disease.
However, since clothes were worn in the pictures the scars of life were not visible.

LTC Stephen F. Excellent points there, Colonel. Too close to call for me to call. Lincoln or Jefferson? I can't decide.

Tremendously interesting. I really like looking at the old portraits, especially of the Presidents when they were young. Thank you for the post.

I guess the point is JFK won the election because he was handsome.....People who watched the debate on TV though JFK won....People who Listened to the Debate on Radio said Nixon Won.
