What’s the Highest Altitude a Fighter Jet Can Go?

This is something I had not known!!!
The Soviet Union has achieved a jet powered Air Craft's highest operating altitude on record that I know of now... If the United States has achieved a higher altitude...
Anyone out there have any comments on this Soviet achievement?

Take a bow and shoot an arrow straight up. 'Nuff said.
The Mig-25 holds the (unclassified) record for the absolute highest altitude, but the old gray SR-71 holds it for the highest horizontal flight altitude.

I didn't have time this morning to do research on our SR-71, but I just looked up some of the SR-71 records and per the Museum of Aviation, I found the following:
"Throughout its nearly 24-year career, the SR-71 remained the world’s fastest and highest-flying operational aircraft. From 80,000 feet it could survey 100,000 square miles of the Earth’s surface per hour. On 28 July 1976, an SR-71 set two world records for its class: an absolute speed record of 2,193.167 miles per hour and an absolute altitude record of 85,060.997 feet."

Length: 107 ft. 5 in.
Height: 18 ft. 6 in.

For the "highest a jet has flown" record, that belongs to Alexandr Fedotov. He flew a MiG-25RB re-engined with a powerful engine (in other words, a one-off experimental aircraft) to an altitude of 123k (and some change) feet.

What is a red flag to me regards the veracity of the above post. It is written in the PRESENT tense and yet there's been no USSR for many years now. I smell a rotten fish. . . .
