At 0230 on 19 Mar 03, I was pulled out of my bunk by the Vice OG, told to get dressed grab my gear, I had 5 minutes. Stagger out to his car, we go tearing off heading for Ops. He didn't know why, we turned the corner heading to the building and it was ablaze with lights. I knew Iraqi Freedom was on. Walked into the building, grabbed a cup of coffee as the OG CC walked up to me and asked if I was ready to fly on the first mission of the war. Pulled my survival gear out, checked and rechecked my camera gear, went to the mass brief, linked up with the OG and crew, walked out to our AC and off we went. Lifted off at 0500, images I shot on that mission were released and published world-wide. The image I'm attaching was used by NBC News as the lead image in their' book on the war. Troop of mine bought it for me when he saw it in Barnes and Noble. Rarely does the civilian media ever give military shooters a credit; just listed as a DoD image. The bastards
