"Baby Lift" was a valiant and humane effort; not driven by guilt, but by a feeling of concern for the fate of the children and was followed by a desire to protect adults who had served with us. Unfortunately, the misgivings of we who left ended up being prophetic with those adults who worked with us being subjected to both brutality and reeducation camps.
Interestingly, there was a young politician who expressed the opinion that he would not pay one cent for the evacuation of Vietnamese nationals. He maintained his repugnant attitude toward foreign nationals who assisted or worked with our military to this day.
