Do you consider the defiant postal workers heroes? I don't. If they decided their conscience will not allow them to follow legal orders and seek employment elsewhere... at least there is honor in that. But open defiance...
Why bother with elections in November? Let's just turn the government over to career bureaucrats, who do whatever they feel is best? The representative Republic will die to cheers from the masses, not the report of gunshots. The gunshots will come as the bureaucrats consolidate power and eliminate the opposition.

They can reinstall them, but it doesn't mean they will be used. Where I work the ones they removed wasn't being used due to being to small and had no room to extend them. Also the fact that not enough workers to work them without only one person on them which would break the rules.
