"At first, Mayor Betsy Hodges tried to talk to the protester, and told him she would be “happy to sit down and talk with people about the future of policing in Minneapolis.”"
The leadership in the city has let down the citizens of that city. It's too late to sit down and talk to the people about the future of policing. The mayor's policies are what ultimately led to this incident. If she wasn't enough of a leader to recognize that putting politics ahead of policing would endanger lives, no amount of talking to anyone is going to make a difference.
Asking the mayor for her resignation is not removing her without just cause. A resignation is voluntary.

I am firmly against removing leadership in a moment of crisis without just cause. It sounds like this LEO shot someone without cause however having to replace a police chief and mayor at this time just seems like another step towards total chaos. Let the storm calm and them remove folks that are ineffective.

I agree with the main protester she is ineffective as a leader. I would have had him and any others acting like him removed. It was a press conference not a stand up and shout like an idiot conference.
