I also earned my MS while on active duty. It's not easy to do that.

I was given 21 months of ffull-time study to get my MA but was able to get the Ph.D. with two one-year leaves of absence and then one semester hour of dissertation study so I could complete my language exam, my comps and orals and defend my dissertation.

I watched my colleague at Computer Science Corporation finish his PhD and defend his dissertation. He aced it, especially the live panel defense of his thesis. But the effort to get to that level of easy mastery of his subject was staggering.

MAJ Hugh Blanchard The beauty of mine was that literally nobody knew anything about my subject but me as no one had written about it before. Mine was the first book to cover it aII thus was able to write a true narrative history.
