Thanks brother Dale for calling our attention to a remarkable veteran and fighter pilot, Ed Mechenbier. The Phantom jets were most welcome to the party when they appeared overhead on close air support missions when we tangled with VC and NVA troublemakers. Ed not only survived being shot down but also too many years as a POW. I hope his family also survived his experience; some did not.
