I can't just jump all over this discussion for reasons. But I will say if the forum presents itself to support VA Health Care and not let it become privatized please support that platform. Reflection: Where do you feel safe, a venue that is being closely watched, checked, and balanced or a venue that has no accountability structure that will address and hold it responsible for issues that require a measured standard to be adhered. The VA Health Care System is a premier model for health care. Now, before someone hacks away at that statement, go back and review recent history restructuring and successes based on models for health care. Google, Google, Google ---- in 2001 when the it was a "big deal" to ensure the accessibility for health care, to strengthen the VA position's care for veterans a priority, to examine areas of overhead spending and close them up, I worked in the oversight venue. But good committed people are not here on Earth or in some position of authority forever.

PO3 Phyllis Maynard I agree we need to support non-privatization of the VA for several reasons. From personal experience, available appointments on the civilian practices mirror those at the VA. Contracting services, if the performance work statement is precise - you may not get what you expect. And then there is the re-compete and bid process - that can be a nightmare. I have been happy with the services that I have received from the Veteran's Administration.

Exactly, if the consult for treatment States something specific and the care provider does it only, treatment ends. If the care provider does more, the provider is not paid. The veteran has to wait on another round of approval and then the actual appointment. I do not like Veterans Choice. VA facilities are the veterans best friend for health care.

This was predictable. It's very difficult (and costly) to have to allocate funds to the VA hospitals and personnel to increase their capacity to see patients while at the same time funding patients going outside the same system when waits are too long. And all the while trying to guesstimate how much demand there will be at each facility, what the wait times will be, and then how many will go to civilian doctors.
