What's the issue...they are Air Force officers...first and foremost...male or female, doesn't matter if they are properly trained and certified in the job!!! I want the best of the best in those silos.

CMSgt Bill Ford - I am the furthest thing from a feminist, but what exactly do you mean by that? I know that there are things women can't quite do as well as a man in this field, but women do have things to bring to the table too. Would you care to clarify what you intended with your comment?

TSgt Melissa Post - First, It's a stunt by leadership to put a happy face on an otherwise AF in decline. Second, how does this impact or improve combat capability? Third, what are the men doing while this is going on? Woman are 19% of the Force and 20% of the officers, yet they could man ALL the Silos...how, they been planning this for a while? In most AFSC...women are 100% capable, my flight instructor was a women...kicked my ass as a young Airman. I retired last year, I kind hoped all these hyphenated stunts would have ended by now.

CMSgt Bill Ford - Thank you for clearing that up. When I first read it, it sounded quite different. My question is Why? Why is this something that is even being done? To further your statistics, the amount of women in this career field is very minute. I am one of about 32 in a squadron of approximately 300 or more. Four years ago it was even less females. I don't see why they feel like this is something they should be wasting their time trying to put into action.

I didn't know that it had not happened in the past. I didn't think it was a big deal since they are both officers in the launch rooms. I'm a ICBM guy from Malmstrom.

I see nothing against it, but why? Were they the best qualified for the assignments or another Ashton Carter move to push the agenda?
