I don't think Kim truly believes he could win an offensive (or defensive) war, hence the nuclear weapons. But, do what we need to do to keep them in check and leave it at that.

Absolutely. NK's military is a farce. Its all smoke and mirrors. We need to push the little punk a bit more and get him back in line.

Well, they could devastate Seoul in the few hours it'd take us to stop their artillery. That'd be bad.

SN Greg Wright - Admittedly, I am no expert on NK. But I have been studying NK for many years. Kim loves himself and life too much to start a war. While he could do some minimal damage to South Korea and maybe Japan, he would be decimated by the return fire. His biggest concern is from within. Those are folks we should (and probably are) working with to keep NK in line.

All of his posturing is to show his own people that he is control and deserves the Supreme Leader (i.e. God) title.

SMSgt Thor Merich - Oh I agree -- he'll never go to war. That'd hamper his ability to abuse underage girls. Or boys. Probably boys.

Jack I love it! Unfortunately, I think his own pride or stupidity is going to get in the way of a rational decision. God knows he is not worried about his people so that is not a consideration. The B-1s were long overdue.
