Our forces are there to get us involved in any North Korean aggression. This is our opportunity to redeploy them. I truly believe the North had a major disaster when that ill fated Hydrogen explosion collapsed a mountain on their facility. It will take them years to rebuild. Great opportunity for the North to be nice.
Suddenly we're the bad guy

The civil demonstrations are nothing new. During my 18 months based in Yongsan in the mid-90s there were numerous such gatherings. They were always announced and US personnel were directed to avoid the areas.

Sadly, there are many South Koreans with a 'pie in the sky' belief that the DPRK isn't all that bad. When I was in country these mainly consisted of college students and others of their age group.

Bound to happen Jim. The people were averse to Yongsan and Camp Kim being used as a military base for long. In addition, the DPRK wants the ROK to size down foreign presence, since U.S. is a threat apparently. The exercises in the ROK are an act of aggression towards the DPRK and the ROK doesn't wish to antagonize its neighbors.
