It has been 30 years since the Soviet Union fell and Ukraine embarked on the journey to self-rule. All young Republics have growing pains.

_Lincoln suspended almost 80 years into our history under the Constitution.
_President Wilson interned first generation German immigrants during WWI.
_FDR interred Japanese, Germans and Italians, or forcibly relocated them out of military exclusion zones.

In PEACE time in the 1950s, the House Committe on Un-American activities intimidated, harassed and interrogated people for the mere suspicion of being a member of the American Communist Party or a communist sympathizer. Many people lives were ruined.

Is Ukraine perfect? No, but that doesn't mean we (the U.S.) can't work with what we've got and try to guide and assist Ukraine on that journey. It beats the Hell out of allowing the Soviet Union to re-constitute.

If this had happened two years ago in the United States I bet you’d still be crowing over it

What? He took action against the Socialists and Russians during a time of war with factions undermining his governance? Shame! (Sarc)

Undermining his government or undermining his control over the government?

The Azov Battalion is still up and running in the Ukrainian National Guard. (they're Naizs, by the way). They're cool I guess.

And of course he's gonna say they're collaborating with the Russians.
"Opposition Platform-For Life was Ukraine’s second-largest party in parliament, and actually expelled a member from the party for supporting Russia’s invasion." They held 43 of 450 seats, so they're not a fringe group. About 20% of the population voted for them. And that's just one. Every political party is banned, except his.
