U.S. Navy hold decommissioning ceremony for USS Fort McHenry

The U.S. Navy conducted a formal decommissioning ceremony for the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry at Naval Station Mayport, Florida on March 27 before its inactivation which will occur in April.
According to a recent service news release, USS Fort McHenry has spent the past 33 years as an amphibious warfare ship with a well dock to transport and launch landing craft and amphibious vehicles.
Rear Adm. Robert Katz, commander, Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 2 presided over the ceremony, which included the remaining ship’s crew and several of its previous commanding officer, including the ship’s commissioning commanding officer, Capt. George “Dusty” Rhodes, who retired in 1999 and featured prominently in the ceremony.

I sailed with them for a MEU SOC (CSS) Eval out of Oki around 97. They went to China for a port visit but we couldn't tag along. She seemed new then, so I'm getting old.

I always wondered where they went and what happened to them next. Philadelphia would not have been my guess
