Elon Musk's social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, was down for about an hour on December 21, a temporary outage that sparked widespread mockery by users.
For a little less than an hour, the platform did not allow users to refresh content, only showing a message on the platform that read: "Welcome to X! This is the best place to see what's happening in your world. Find some people and topics to follow now."
It was the latest technical issue faced by the social media platform after external links were temporarily not working last week and the website went down for about 40 minutes on December 17. The Thursday outage, which led to a rise in the use of the hashtag #twitterdown, appeared to be a global blackout for X, which was frozen for thousands of users.
