Trump’s Lawyers, in Confidential Memo, Argue to Head Off a Historic Subpoena

Did I read this headline correctly. NYTimes admits to having acquired official US gov material? Or possibility two...if the lawyers are not Gov employees, then private communications to a gov official, ie Mueller. I was sued while in Civil Service and the Gov provided a gov lawyer. If I was convicted or found to have violated the law, that lawyer would be withdrawn...and work for the gov. There were multiple people named to include the Sec of Army. NYTimes does not seem to think we have a leaker problem in the Federal Gov.
