Capt Dwayne Conyers I feel for the people, but they are on an island, and there isn't too many ways to get help to them fast. I pray that there is much more coming in for them.

I just finished responding to the same question in another discussion thread on RP. In my comment I included the sentiment that I don't care about politics. I only care about the people, the island, and the nation in crafting a solution to the crisis. However, I continued, I fully recognize that politicians and their dupes will make it a political issue which will only get in the way. Well, lookie here. My response in that other place hasn't even reached room temperature and I find y'all playing party politics. Damn, I'm prescient...

Capt Dwayne Conyers - Allow me to respond simply. Bullshit. Everything is politics these days. For those who have lost their homes on the island, there will be no good solution. The hurricane is but the second major disaster. First came the territorial government that bankrupted the island and its people. It will take years, decades to sort out the mess after they find someone willing and able to pay for it. I know that President Obama would have simply printed money to cover the tab, but that option is no longer on the table. The best we can hope for is to evacuate the island, leaving a small colony to maintain sovereignty and provide a nucleus for the recovery effort, while we figure out what we're willing to pay for and how we're going to pay for it. Yes, there will be plenty of displaced persons, refugees in every sense of the word, to be resettled. They won't be happy. Nobody is going to be happy. This is an emotional issue. Homes and livelihoods are involved. But that's what happens when homes and businesses are built under inadequate codes for the environment and government spends all the money and credit there is on "other stuff"

Capt Dwayne Conyers - Oh, this is helpful, yes it is. You're still stuck on politics while people are suffering. Aren't you proud?

I'm as proud as you are foolish, CPT Jack Durish… which I reckon to be not at all.

Now, if the comparison was ornery...

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

SMSgt Thomas, that is why they invented Helicopters. A hundred CH-47 would be a good start When you have the resources that we have at or fingertips , those "reasons are just excuses

Oh, ya, just pop over to the Bagram or other theater locations where the majority of our serviceable and operational rotor wing Aircraft are and fly a hundred (plus spares) CH47s over to PR.. good idea, thats brilliant, congrats, well done..I'm sure you have thought though the logistics of that as well as supporting them on this mission you are so well equipped to plan.
