While the Johnson Amendment is probably an imposition on Free Speech, the fact that it is an Amendment makes it Constitutional. So if he goes that route he needs to repeal the Amendment and good luck doing that these days.

Sounds like something a lot of folks will be for until some priest says something they don't like.

SSG (Join to see)
1SG(P) (Join to see) How many of these politicians really want clergy commenting publically on their ethics and infidelities?

SSG (Join to see) - I don't think it's so much about that rather than political endorsements. POTUS will be cool with it until a liberation theologian like Jeremiah Wright says something. Another example is the Jesuit order in Central America during the 80s. They did a lot of good works but became far too political and practically communist. DJT probably wouldn't appreciate such a trend here. But, what's sauce for the goose...

1SG(P) (Join to see) - True. Sounds like the guy just wants to be liked too much which tends to be a red flag.

Yes this is about financial endorsements and not verbal endorsements of political candidates. Do we know of any individuals or groups of faith that never publicly endorsed a politician out of fear of breaking a law?
