I agree people (including conservatives) have a wide spectrum of perspectives and desired response levels to the Wuhan Coronavirus. I'm just not sure that this split over Corona equates to a fracture in the MAGA movement (the headline and premise of the article). It's a large extrapolation and I didn't find evidence for it within the article.

I think more Americans are seeing the value of secured borders for many reasons, we can now add global pandemics to the list, even though some of us were aware of these dangers previously.

We also can add the reality that we need to take the pharmaceutical production back from China. The fact that this has been allowed to happen over more than one administration is a travesty and puts public health at risk. The Chinese are not our friend.

People react differently to these sort of issues. Some hit the panic button early, others are more measured and do not.

So far, the H1N1 virus looks to have been far more harmful than this one, at least to date. It is almost impossible to know the lethality as we know the numerator (how many have died) but the denominator is very hard to know (how many have had it). We know that 80-85% will have little to no signs/symptoms of the virus and may never know they have it and therefore will never get into the denominator.

We also know that it is far more lethal to the elderly and already ill with cardio vascular type diseases etc. I think the average age of death is still around 70 years old here in the US. California has taken some smart steps by protecting the elderly more aggressively.

I don't see this fracturing his base at all. More calls for border security and bringing back manufacturing of pharma to the US are issues his supporters already care about.

Yep, thanks. How many people are now convinced we need to protect our borders .

Seems under the right circumstances, global walls are in vogue.
