I knew this election was going to be different. I live in a county where the Democrats don't even bother running candidates for local positions at county level and below. They haven't in the 18 years I've been here. I live directly opposite the polling place in my precinct. There were two things that struck me that I have not seen in those 18 years. I have friends who live in rural counties across the State of Michigan, they all saw similar conditions at their rural polling places,
1) The parking lot was full and people were parked up an down the road the entire time the polls were open.
2) I've never waited as much as five minute to vote before. The polling place was staffed the same it has always been. It took me almost two hours to vote.
