Interesting to see how this will play out. If it is a cost-effective, profit generating service, it may well be a blueprint for other companies to operate in that space.

They are also using "value capture" of the surrounding real estate at the major stations, participating in real estate development of residential apartment towers, retail and the like. Amtrak is now copying that model to reduce their subsidy and has major Real Estate initiatives underway or planned at Chicago Union Station, Washington DC Union Station, and Penn Station in New York. So potentially we will see a drop in the annual Amtrak subsidy as well in the next 5-10 years.
