LTC Eugene Chu there is a nursing shortage and nurses are aging out, unionizing and although they got recognized for their contributions during the pandemic, attention no longer focuses on their normal day expectations. With electronic charting, there is little time for direct patient care and proper assessment, planning and treatment goals. Years ago, I was working on a critical cardiac floor 12 patients at. Ishtar fresh out of cardiac surgery. I was paid $12/ hr. That’s a dollar a patient. Salaries have risen and so have expectations, technology has changed and soon bed side care could be done by robots according to one article I read. Pushing your call button won’t make the robot prioritize your needs.
