I really like this song by Tracy Chapman. I can remember when it came out and played on the radio, but I don't remember it playing on country stations, but rather Top 40 stations.
I've always liked all kinds of music. My mom liked 50's/60's rock. My dad liked classic country; Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash. My older brother liked R&B during his HS years and my sister was more of a Top 40 fan. I listened to it all. I was a teen during most of the 80's, so I like some of the big hair bands, metal bands, very very few rappers, however; gangster rap is a show stopper with me. I will change the dial immediately if it has an "inner city" sound. As I've progressed through my adult life, I still enjoy the music I grew up listening to, and I've added big band style music like from the 30's and 40s. I'll always like Country and I have always enjoyed music with spiritual messages. I listen to K-Love A LOT these days. I don't have to worry what's going to be said with my grandkids in the car.
Honestly, I really enjoy music, of most kinds. Music has a way of touching one's heart. Music can bring peace and calm in a world that is smothered in turmoil and chaos. Nature can also be a form of music. I enjoy listening to the sounds of nature on our farm.

Unfortunately for MTV, sometime in the 90’s they went all in on rap-crap and have shuffled off to irrelevancy. They were good while it lasted though!
