This Marine took it upon himself to "take charge of all government property in view". The problem here is that this isn't government property. It's Time Warner's property. No individual has the right or privilege to seize or co-opt someone else's property. Unless he went through proper channels and was denied or there are extenuating circumstances that have yet to be made public, this devil dog either didn't run this decision through his operational risk management matrix or chose to ignore it. This is a misguided sense of moral righteousness, and while it could prove to become a net PR loss for Time Warner, at least they can fall back on "at least we're not Comcast."

Just another reason I will never use Time Warner. I don't care if it's a company rule or not, it's not like he stole the flag.

I agree with you Sgt. Im just amazed that there isn't anything in the news about the flag not being at half mass prior to that Marine not correcting the problem.
I just wish that TWC wasn't the only cable provider in the barracks. Their prices are outrageous.

It wasn't a company rule, flag code specifically states that the flag is raised back to full staff at noon. This happened at 1430. Then afterwards, he decided to mouth off and curse at the employer. Time Warner was within its rights and correct in firing him.

Ok, this was already posted and there was discussion about it there, but I guess we're talking about it again. First off, he was dead wrong and clearly didn't know what he was taking about. The incident occurred at 1430, 2 hours after flags are supposed to be raised back up. 2nd, just because you're a veteran, it doesn't give you the right to do as you choose on your employer's property. He did more to hurt vets than he did to help. The worst part is that his lawyer states that he knows his client was wrong, but that shouldn't matter because he "thought" he was right.
