Three deaths linked to recent Navy SEAL training classes

I live in the county just north of SD and work in SD county. these deaths/suicides kinda hit close to home seeing as how I can go to the Marriott in the gaslamp district in san diego and most parts of downtown without using GPS. Coronado is where I had all my family reunions until I was a sophomore in high school. its terrible now that this has happened and is what comes to mind when I think about the navy in san diego. what do you think should happen next? what about more in depth mental evaluations of applicants? or more supervision post-failure of the course? and what about the admiral who was caught up in his own scandal and cleared of everything,why was he kept in power?

All three are tragedies, but I'm not going to go into the hand wringing SJW mode and "demand" that the SEALS lower their standards one iota.
One of them was a training accident. The safety proceedures should ALWAYS be looked at and improved, regardless of accidents. The other two lives lost were tragic as well, a traffic death and a suicide that MAY have been a result of esteem issues because of indivuals being cut from classes.
From what I understand those that drop out of SEAL training are never belittled by the instructors or classmates. If anything they are commended for their effort.
We lose service members from all branches and MOSs on a regular basis. Attempting to single out the SEALS because they are elite smacks of media sensationalism.

I don't think the seals are necessarily to blame. what I think should happen is something needs to change with how the sailors are handled after they flunk out. the drowning was a freak accident, we can all agree on that. flipping your car and jumping 22 stories to your death could be the results of anything too. but in those two circumstances both sailors recently flunked out. so its safe to say theres a correlation between recent BUD/S failures and suicides. (assuming both are in fact suicides and not freak accidents. the only thing im singling out is the admiral and his past scandal. how is he still in his position after what he did. but that's besides the point.

There have been two SEAL Admirals who were refused confirmation by the Senate to take over SOCOM, so there are some consequences. Keep in mind that with General/Flag officers, consequences are different than they are for us mere mortals. More like those of CONgresspeople...

Truly Sorry to Hear. It is a Tough Program and nothing surprises me about it but these are the folks we choose to go in Harms Way the Most.

These are issues that comes with the lifestyle. Very tragic, but part of the life. I know the Navy will do the right thing. On my last ship, while we were out to sea getting ready for deployment, we lost two people and had a freak accident in three days. Our Captain pulled the ship in for a couple of days, to help everyone get refocused. We can only keep the community and the families in our thoughts and prayers.
