SPC Car - forgive me but have you EVER served as a Military Advisor in the Middle East? Have you attend the Foreign Service Institute? Do you understand what the differences are between the Shia and Sunni Islamic sects? Do you know what the Gulf Cooperation Council [GCC] is. This article is fatuous in its tone and inane in its logic. Saudi Arabia (yes I was a Military Advisor there before the Gulf war) ALWAYS repeat ALWAYS viewed itself as a buttress against Shia Iran. By way of review - the GCC was established in an agreement on 25 May 1981 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia between: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE. The GCC Charter specifies that the GCC was established to cement the the special relations between the member states to include their similar political systems based on Islamic beliefs, joint destiny and common objectives. Consequently, the GCC is a regional common market with a defense planning council as well (say NATO EQUIVALENT). Further the GCC charter states that an aggression against any one of them (READ IRAN) is deemed an aggression against all of them. Consequently, the Military Chiefs of Staff and Defense Ministers of the GCC developed plans for mutual defense and launched efforts to form a joint command and a joint defense network. Specifically , the GCC defense ministers agreed on the creation of a two-brigade (10,000-man) Peninsula Shield Force. This joint intervention force was based in Saudi Arabia near King Khalid Military City at Hafar al Batin under the command of a Saudi officer. I myself visited this unit when i was in Saudi Arabia while accompanying the Saudi General Officer whom I was attached to as his adviser. So you see SPC Car - POTUS is doing nothing more than reinforcing American resolve to support the GCC charter - despite the inane ramblings of the author of this fatuous piece

Why is the left so hell-bent on acceptance of a group of non-secular religionists who violate the human rights of women, gays, and anyone not supporting their barbaric religious beliefs.

Every left wing rag out there is so full of hyperbole, it's easy to overlook fact from fiction. Regardless of the saudis true intentions, they, just like saddam, are/were buffers against iranian shia muslims who do want to conquer the entire world and are hell bent on bringing about their version of Armageddon.
Islamic apocalyptic literature describing Armageddon is often known as fitna, malāḥim (meaning bloody fights, massacres), Al-Malhama Al-Kubra (The Great Massacre), or ghaybah in Shī‘a Islam. The righteous are rewarded with pleasures of Jannah "Paradise", while the unrighteous are punished in Jahannam "Hell". The Messiah in Islam will become the ruler of the world and abolish all religions but islam.
Does the left who "tolerate" their culture really want to see a monotheistic global government. Does the ends really justify the means?

Uh that's what Christians and Jews believe as well, buddy. So that makes no sense, until you see Jesus return.
"Regardless of the saudis true intentions, they, just like saddam, are/were buffers against iranian shia muslims who do want to conquer the entire world and are hell bent on bringing about their version of Armageddon."
Uh, no. The Iranians want autonomy. They want to take out the Saudi family as well, considering how rampantly corrupt the Gulf countries are, who promoted radical Wahhabism for decades until we now have Al-Qaeda, 9/11, the War on Terror, and worldwide terrorism as a result. Understandable.
Hezbollah is their anti-Israel paramilitary extension, yet they fight alongside Palestinian and Lebanese Sunnis. World domination seems a bit simplistic.
The Iranians have every right to hate America, the CIA took out their elected leader Mohammad Mosaddeq, installed a dictatorial shah, who then signed over 40% of their oil to US companies. Imagine if Iran took out president Trump, installed a dictator, then signed over 40% of our natural resources to Iran?
Before you go screaming "conspiracy!" Know that CIA publicized documents admitting to this: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/aug/19/cia-admits-role-1953-iranian-coup
Some info on it here: http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/cia-assisted-coup-overthrows-government-of-iran

SFC William H. - Or that. The only thing I got from the OP's remarks was that Trump having an aim in his visit to Saudi Arabia was somehow disastrous.
