Thank you my friend SGT (Join to see) for sharing the music video of The Tornados performing - Telstar in honor of the fact that on October 4, 1962, the Tornadoes were at Number 1 on the UK Singles Chart with the instrumental "Telstar."

Some of the guys at Mainland High School had a band and they played TELSTAR at
our dances. This was and still is to me a great instrumental recording.
Thanks for the 1962 Daytona memories Dave.

You must have had better dancers, it generally cleared the floor at our school dances.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - My girlfriend and I loved to dance and we came in 1st place in a few dance contest at the Ocean Pier on Daytona Beach. Most of the bands were local high school guys and they played 45 minute sets and rested for 15 minutes.
My girlfriend and I would be one of the few couples who would stay on the dance floor for the full 45 minutes the band played. Oh to be young again, that would kill me now. :o)
Did you ever try dancing to the Surfaris' instrumental WIPE OUT ? That was wild.
For me TELSTAR was not a good song for the dance floor but I liked the sound.
