There are only two ways to effectively counter this threat. Direct confrontation and economic stagnation. Inasmuch as the US is the greatest consumer of Chinese goods, we could help stagnate their economy by shifting our purchasing elsewhere.

We should have our Carrier strike force go through at 28 knots in their sand bar AO and the waves will make those boats capsize LOL.

LTC (Join to see) - And just might start a shooting war.

Doing so will embassy the Navy greatly since it would mean a grounded and helpless Carrier Battle Group, look at a nautical map. That plan might do the Chinese injury by causing them, to laugh too much but would serve no other purpose.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr thanks, I implied at a safe distance but going fast (and not too close to each ship in the battle group) would deter them from ramming. I implied 12 mile limit not that close. I should have clarified that.

12 mile limit means that they will not even be bothered by the path and even then you are going to be on a restored course and have to jlease the Sub escorts behind. The days of capitols ships putting themselves out as targets are long gone. When a Oops can cause millions of death acting like adults is perhaps a better course of action.

Think about how the US would react if the Chineese held a major exercise in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico.

Yes, we would be freaking out too. still, the fever navigation of the Seas going to be pissing off the Chinese because we will not back down. We did not back down under President Obama either. They do not get special privileges because they made a sand bar into a small airstrip more like a Wake Island like a small version of Corregidor

As long as we keep operating in the area as were pre islands think the Chineese will get the message. Backing off or modifying operations sends them the signal that they can get away with doing even more provocative things.

Be careful what You wish for Sir, It's been rumored they've been sniffin' around in the Gulf & the Caribbean for sometime, looking for places to set up bases outside Our back door, same goes for several locations in South America... I wouldn't discount that they might try it, just to see how we'd react.
We really need to rethink their being allowed to get a foot hold in Central America around the Panama Canal!
What say You?

No doubt they will get a foothold in South America the same way they are doing in the rest of the world, economic assistance and backing IMO. We tend to focus on military operations while the Chineese totally outrank us with their economic support around the world.
