Some think movement is not simply outward expansion, but double torus in nature which might mean the universe is the shape of a double torus. Not sure I can buy into that. Perhaps it is simply that a Big Bang event resulting in expansion like a balloon being blown up, is more comfortable and easier to imagine and understand.
